WOW! Still on a high!! We saw La Traviata here, an amazingly powerful performance by the cast. That together with the location and atmosphere the palace exudes made our night of opera very special indeed. Thankyou.

We are just back from a weekend in Venice. We specifically went there for the Opera at the Palazzo, which on Saturday was the Barber of Seville.

Stunningly, amazingly good.

For context, we are not regular opera buffs, but we've been to Covent Garden, Glyndebourne, Sydney, but prefer the 'popular' operas.

This format at the Palazzo is unique and fantastic. We felt as though we were on stage, even part of the cast. The performance is right in front of you, and all around you.
It is very personal when Figaro actually cuts MY hair, and when Il Dotore, looking for the note, displays the pen RIGHT under my nose, saying (in Italian) look, the pen is still wet with ink.
Just fantastic.

The Palazzo rooms are large, but small for an opera stage. The result is that the music from only a 4-piece orchestra completely fills the room, and the lead violin may be only a few feet away.

The Palazzo is rich and sumptuous, a perfect setting for an Opera (it really is as though you are in Il Dotore's house), and its right on the Grand Canal.

Highly personal, highly professional, totally memorable.

I cannot recommend this highly enough.

We saw The Barber of Sevilla at the palace in early June 2010 -- the palace, the presentation, and the ambience were fantastic, and the performance was superb.

Merci !

When I planned my long weekend in Venice, I was disappointed that La Fenice is closed for winter holidays. With a bit of good luck, I found Musica a Palazzo via Inet. La Traviata was a real delight. Brought into the interiors of Venetian palazzo, Violetta and Alfredo have become as close to us as part of family, or friendly circle. With all my heart, I recommend you to attend and see Musica a Pallazzo with your own eyes. If you love Opera, let it be your special treat. If you think Opera to be out-of-date, duying art, go and check it yourself. Surprise may await you.
